I wanted to thank both of you for helping my son, Ethan. He is in Kindergarten at Cross Creek Charter Academy in Byron Center Michigan. The Writing Claw helped him correct his pencil grip in DAYS! We are so impressed! My son has very mild autism, and He does not need it anymore but I keep a few around my house for my young daycare kids and have passed a few out to other parents.
Thanks again! Lisa Pratt
I am having good success with using the CLAW to increase finger/thumb flexion
and to develop an improved grasp.
Thank you,
Pat Boelk, OTR/L
I am a huge fan of the CLAW. I have two higher functioning autistic kindergarteners that have really taken to the grip. In fact, they put it on without any help, and it has dramatically improved their pencil grasp from the first use.
Sincerely,
Aaron Shamblin, OTR/L
I teach Kindergarten and as you may guess I have several kids with fine motor issues including improper pencil grip. I love the C.L.A.W. because it forces the kid’s fingers into the proper position and they have instant success. Please feel free to contact me for further feedback.

I use the writing claw with my Kindergarten students.
I've noticed that it helps with the development in
fine motor muscles in the fingers and well as boosts
their confidence in learning to write!

Actually the writing claw made my daughters handwriting so much better. She used to write with a weird grip and now she loves the writing claw. She calls it the Gripper. When she is in her teacher Ms. Triscritti class she likes to use it.
Thank you

I wish I could get my kindergarten and 1st grade teachers to use it across the
board for a few weeks.I am extremely happy with your product...I am an OT in a school district and from the first moment I tried the claw I have been impressed. The teachers of my students have used them and ordered them for their classrooms. I think that all Kindergarten teachers should utilize them as they introduce writing because it totally prevents bad grasp habits from forming...They are comfortable and durable and best of all the kids totally love them. I think they like the overall input that they receive on their fingers as the claw hugs their fingers...It has also helped some of my students that apply too much pressure on their paper...It's a great product!
Thank you again...

My son just turned 6 and he is in kindergarten. When he was in pre-school, we noticed that he didn't have a lot of strength in his hand when he wrote; thus, he couldn't press down hard with writing instruments and he really couldn't use the proper grip. We tried using all kinds of grips, but none of them seemed to do much for him. When he got to kindergarten this past fall, the occupational therapist gave us the CLAW, and his grip has improved greatly since. I don't really know if the CLAW gave him strength, but is certainly enabled him to grip the pencil better and his writing has improved greatly.

As a second grade teacher, I personally love the CLAW. I believe it is the only
writing instrument of this kind that really forces the kids to hold the pencils
correctly. I get so upset, because these days there just aren't very many
teachers left that think time should be spent teaching kids to hold their
pencils correctly and also correct letter formation. Our O.T. says that the
CLAW is a good instrument in teaching them how to hold the pencil.

The C.L.A.W.'s are fabulous. My daughter's OT found them at an OT event in St Louis (I think). He used it with her and it made an unbelievable difference. She's 3. I purchased the pack and kept a few, but gave the rest to her special ed teacher. She was very excited about the prospect of using them with the kids in her class.
Thank you again,
Robert
Most of the students that used the CLAW have become very attached to it and it does help with their penmanship and control. It works best if they are doing writer's workshop or several minutes of writing practice, I use it with several age groups ranging from 5 years to 10 years.I have purchased all three sizes of the claw, seeing as how the classroom that I work in has grades 1 through 4, and many different sizes of students. I have also given some to other kindergarten teachers, and Latch Key instructors. So far everyone has liked them, and My grandsons pre-school teacher has seen them and requested the address so that she could order them for her room. They do help the children learn the proper way to hold the pencils, and for those that don't really need them they also like to use them just to fit in, that is why I re-ordered in bigger sizes. What an awesome idea and great learning/teaching tool.

Hi! My son's O.T. at Brookwood Elementary school gave me information about your product. It has made a huge difference in his writing. She only has a couple, so I'm buying some of these for Jake and I'll donate some to his classroom for everyone to share.
Thank you for this remarkable product!
Best Regards,

My four year old daughter struggled with gripping a writing utensil
properly. She naturally wanted to hold pencils, crayons, and markers
in her fist. Being an adult who still does not hold their pencil
correctly, I thought I'd try to get her started properly. Having tried
a variety of other products on the market myself in attempts fix my own
problem (all unsuccessfully), I was excited to try the writing claw
upon finding it online. My daughter was reluctant to use it at first,
but after a couple trial runs she did not want to write without it! After
a month she was in the habit and now holds her writing utensils properly
all on her own. Thank you writing claw!

Your booth was definitely a "topper" on my trip to the AOTA Conference in St Louis. I tried the claw with my most difficult grippers; those that no matter what pencil grip you give them, they fist it, or flip it. The students immediately took ownership of the claw. My fifth grader refers to it as air bags for his fingers. This transfers to me as an increased feeling of stability, and security in his writing which he is impressed with himself.
Thank you,

I am a pediatric Occupational therapist. I have been working with children of all different delays and disabilities for the past 7 years. During that time, I have tried every trick in the book and even some of my own to get children to use a tripod grasp when writing and coloring. These tricks have included a variety of different pencil grips. Unfortunately, my tricks resulted in very little progress for the children. During a trip to St. Louis for the American Occupational Therapy Association conference, I was introduced to the Writing Claw. I have to admit; when I first saw the Writing Claw I was skeptical at best. However, I decided to bring it back home and give it a try. To say that I was amazed at the results is a huge understatement. The kids love to "put the hats on their fingers" as I like to say when we are using the Writing Claw. I also love the Writing Claw. It is easy for the kids to put on, it works easily with pencils, pens, and crayons, and it is quickly changed between writing implements (this is especially nice when coloring with crayons). My enthusiasm for the Writing Claw has spread to parents and teachers who are also amazed at the results from the Writing Claw. Not only are the children holding their pencils and crayons correctly, but the quality of their writing and coloring has significantly improved. I would recommend the Writing Claw for all. Go ahead and give it a try - what can it hurt?

I am a chiropractor in Cedar Springs, MI. Recently I was told about your product so I checked out your website because I have been looking for ideas on how to improve my handwriting. I have been in practice for 24 years and have never really learned the correct way to hold a pen. My reason for looking into the correct writing form is due to the fact that over the years I have developed a degenerative condition in my writing hand commonly referred to as Osteoarthritis or Degenerative Joint Disease. Unlike Rheumatoid Arthritis, this condition is formed from overuse or overstress to the facets or joints in our body. I see osteoarthritis everyday in my practice, so I am quite familiar with the pain and other side effects of the condition. For the last several years I have noticed quite a degenerative change in the first two fingers and thumb of my writing hand. I am quite sure this is from a great deal of writing over the years with an incorrect writing position or form.I have to admit, I thought your "claw" was going to be just another gimmick, but as soon as I slipped it on my pen, I could see and feel just how wrong I had been holding my pen! I sure wish I had your claw on my pencil 30 years ago.
There is really no cure for osteoarthritis after a certain time frame, but with the correct form, the claw can prevent or for sure slow any further damage to your hands and fingers.I have shown you product to a few patients who are teachers and they all seem to have very positive feedback. What a great idea! I wish I would have thought of it!

It’s a hard thing for an educator who has a child that does not share a love for writing! I am a kindergarten teacher and I absolutely love teaching my students to write. However, I have struggled to get my 7 year old to enjoy writing. After trying every kind of grip, I realized most of them were simply for comfort. My sons’ handwriting was not what an educator/mother would have liked it to be. But I am happy and pleased to say, “That with the use of the C.L.A.W. he has shown some growth and is even a bit more eager to complete writing task.” The C.L.A.W. really helps him to keep his writing strokes more controlled, which has improved his handwriting. I have purchased them for my students and have been sharing them with family and friends. I am so excited to have been introduced to the C.L.A.W.

This was the first proper gripping product that my daughter likes to use, as she was learning how to hold pencils, crayons and pens. And we tried a few others... I liked it so much I bought a bunch for our school's primary grades. Thanks for making something that works!!!

The greatest and most effective solutions are often the simplest in nature! I am pleased to provide my personal endorsement of the Writing Claw as a teaching tool and support intervention in the writing process. As an educator I am always seeking ways to increase the confidence levels of our students and staff. The Writing Claw not only offers an opportunity to advance skills, it offers the promise of increased hope and self-esteem. I have a child in kindergarten as well as a parent battling Parkinson's and the Writing Claw offers assistance to both of them. I truly believe that the Writing Claw will become a fixture in our educational classrooms in the near future for persons of all ages. Congratulations on a wonderful product!

9/1/06 "My 5 year old son, would not hold a pencil correctly. For three years he's had this fist grip with all of his crayons, and pencils, and he refused to adjust. Since he's been using the C.L.A.W., he can now write his own name, and it's actually legible. He doesn't want to color, or write without it now. My two year old is also using it, and is actually catching up to his older brother's writing, and coloring ability. Where has this product been!!??? Thank you sooooo much."

Thank-you so much for alerting me to the writing claw - I am an OT in a school district in NY and have used it with a number of children. I believe it will make a considerable difference in their writing endurance. I've never been a fan of pencil grips but this may change my mind.

I found the claw to be very beneficial to 5 students who had a inefficient grip and poor motor control with their writing tool. They used it independently after being instructed and their handwriting improved greatly. They used the claw 2-3 months (it varied for each) and I was glad I spent $20.00 of my own money to purchase them. These children thought it was pretty cool that I had ordered something just for them and there was never any stigma attached to using the claw.
The parents of these students were pleased that I had found a helpful device for their children. I was pleased to be able to speak to a real person (a male) on the phone when I called and found his customer service to be exceptional when I did business with your company.
Thanks for developing your product and Happy New Year,

Hi Chet
I just wanted to let you know how we like the Claw. I have used it with my 4 yr old (will be 5 on April 8). He was having trouble with pencil grip which is what prompted me to look for help. The Claw did the trick. After just 10 days of use, Nolan is holding a pencil or crayon more appropriately….with or without the Claw. It has really made a big difference in his desire to write his letters. It has been fantastic, thank you!
Preschool is using it too, with a variety of kids. So far the kids are loving it and they are seeing some real improvements in hand writing. It is a great product, thank you! One of our preschool teacher’s works for a teacher store called Loudoun Learning in Leesburg, VA. She was planning on taking one in to the owner to see if she wanted to carry them in the store. I gave her your contact information.
Thanks!

Thank you Chet! I had my principal purchase a few of these this year to try on some of our intervention students. I have to say that the kids I work with have had success.
Grateful for your product,
